Inverter is Here

The new inverter is in. It’s a bit shady-looking, and was obviously modified from a 12V to a 24V (there’s a 24V sticker over the 12V label). I powered it up from a bench supply and got no lights and a loud beeping. I hope that doesn’t mean it’s broken, but I haven’t had a chance to test it further.

I noticed that it needs to have a bleeder resistor added across the input terminals, because the capacitor bank inside can hold quite a charge and doesn’t have any diode protection (it made a nice spark when I shorted the input terminals after disconnecting the power).

I also noticed that it doesn’t have any obvious mounting options. I’m thinking I’ll open it up, add some screws for mounting and investigate how the thing was modified.
